I'm interrupting this dormant dog-blog to write about my entry into the world of children's literature - there will still be the occasional mention of my erstwhile doggie companion who is still a pup in spirit, if not in size.

The Friday walk - not!

Set-out for our Friday walk with Dougie and the Groove Queen (GQ). The sky looked ominous and, as we passed our favourite coffee shop, the rain suddenly got serious.

Pip's friend Dougie

Straight to coffee it was – good for owners, not so good for dogs. Pip is getting better at the whole hanging out at the cafe thing but without his morning walk was feeling a little too frisky to sit still. Sometimes, I wish I could throw a colouring book at him – if you know what I mean?
Meanwhile, poor Dougie was having a tough morning, enduring two epileptic fits! After lots of cuddles with GQ he was fine. But this prompted her to tell me the story of how Dougie was attacked in Shanghai.
GQ was bringing him back from his morning walk when some other dogs in the apartment block had somehow managed to come down in the lift (!) unaccompanied. First, a poodle appeared and roughed up Dougie. GQ had just managed to rescue Dougie and was waiting up close to the lift doors when they opened and out jumped a dog who they would later dub the Biter Beagle. The Beagle savaged Dougie’s paw. Poor Dougie needed four stitches and never quite recovered from his post-traumatic stress.
Finished our walk bumping into Scooby (a giant dog) in the park.

Pip gives Scooby puppy kisses while Douglas has a, er, sniff!

Pip covered him with puppy kisses – aww!
